Welcome to the ASU Training and Development website, a resource for employee learning. On this page, you will find information regarding required employee training, as well as elective learning and development opportunities. 

  • Required Employee Training

    The following compliance training courses are required for all employees and can be found on Blackboard. To help you manage your training deadlines, please refer to the schedule below. (New employees will be expected to complete all employee compliance training within the first 30 days, and then after that, every two years.)

    • Equal Employment Opportunity Training 

      The purpose of this training is to make employees aware of the Fair Employment Laws, and Angelo State University’s EEO Policy and commitment to equal employment opportunities. The training also explains the ASU grievance process, as well as the employee’s role in upholding equal employment opportunities. Required of all Angelo State employees, including student employees.

    • Title IX Responsible Employee Training 

      Institutions, such as ASU, receiving federal funding are required to train their employees about their role as Responsible Employees. That includes understanding the reporting process of an alleged Title IX incident and knowing how to contact the University Title IX Coordinator. Required of all Angelo State employees, including student employees.

    • Sexual Harassment Awareness Training 

      Required of all employees of the State of Texas, this training explains the types of sexual harassment, ways to prevent it in the workplace, the ASU Policy OP 16.03, and the process for filing a harassment complaint. 

    • Campus Carry Training 

      This training explores the new Texas Campus Carry Law, responsibilities of licensed gun owners while on campus, areas of campus that prohibit firearms, and the ASU Campus Carry Policy. Required of all Angelo State employees except student employees.

    • Ethics Training 

      This training has been prepared to comply with (i) Tex. Educ. Code §51.9337(c)(8), which requires the code of ethics applicable to the System and its component institutions provide for “regular” ethics training for all officers and employees of the Texas Tech University System; and (ii) Tex. Educ. Code §51.9337(b)(4) pertaining to ethics training related to procurement activities.

    Upon Request of Supervisor

    Child Protection Training (every 2 years). Required only for faculty and staff who will be working with minors on campus in University events and activities, such as camps, festivals, and competitions. Supervisors can request enrollment for staff by sending a request to This training is most commonly utilized for summer camp staff; however, it is available all year, as needed.

  • Professional Development

    Angelo State University offers opportunities for employees to continually learn and develop. Faculty and staff can utilize resources for improving interpersonal communication and customer service skills, running more effective meetings, finding opportunities for collaborative decision-making, and developing leadership skills.
