What is the CLEP?

The CLEP is a range of tests that makes it possible for you to earn college credit by achieving qualifying scores on one or more exams. For a complete list of the 33 CLEP exams, go to http://clep.collegeboard.org/

For list of CLEP exams accepted by Angelo State University and credit by examination policy guidelines, visit Credit By Examination.

Registration

Registration for a CLEP exam should be done online at  http://clep.collegeboard.org/register/exam/  Once registered for an exam, you will be provided with a CLEP Exam Registration Ticket which must be presented to the Testing Center during check-in on your scheduled exam date/time.

CLEP exam registration tickets expire 6 months from the date of purchase. The expiration date for your exam registration ticket can be found in My Account as well as on the CLEP exam registration ticket.

The wait time before repeating a CLEP exam of the same title is three months.  Scores of exams repeated earlier than three months will not be accepted (and test fees will be forfeited).

ASU students need to also have a Dean’s Approval Form for CLEP Examinations signed by the dean of their major academic college.  The Dean’s Approval Form will be submitted to the Testing Center during check-in on your scheduled exam date/time.

Cost

The cost for each CLEP exam is $89 and is paid online at the time of registration.  In addition, there is a $30 Non-Refundable/Non-Transferable proctor fee which is paid online at the time of scheduling.  You are not officially scheduled for an exam until payment is made and a confirmation email is received.

Schedule

The health and wellness of Angelo State University’s students, faculty and staff are top priority. In order to limit the spread of COVID-19 and safeguard the health and well-being of our campus community, the Testing Center is taking all necessary measures recommended by local and state officials and the Center for Disease Control.

Per a policy set by the Texas Tech University System, face coverings are required to be worn by the entire campus community while on campus or in university facilities.  This includes students, faculty, staff and campus visitors.

A wellness screening is required of everyone prior to being admitted for testing.  ASU students, complete the COVID-19 Wellness Screening in RamPort. Visitors will complete the COVID-19 Visitor Wellness Screening. Be prepared to show wellness screening completion badge and valid picture identification when checking in for testing.

CLEP exams are given on specific dates throughout the academic year.  Exams are proctored on the hour (10am, 11am, 12pm, etc.) during the window of time for testing on that day.  Exams are 90 to 120 minutes, depending on the subject.  When scheduling, keep this in mind, allowing plenty of time to complete the exam.  To schedule a CLEP, click on the desired test date below.

We will follow social distancing protocols set forth by the CDC when testing.  Seating is limited.  Once filled, the date will be removed from the schedule.

The Testing Center is open Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.  A scheduling form submitted after 5:00 pm will not be processed until the next business day.  Complete the scheduling form and submit payment at least 24 hours prior to the date and time you are requesting.

You are not officially scheduled to take an exam until payment is made and a confirmation email is received.
