Welcome to ASU Cheer
Team Purpose
The purpose of the ASU Coed Cheer Team is to support the athletic teams at Angelo State University and to represent ASU at College Nationals. Our members embrace their role as ambassadors of the University and represent ASU at a variety of alumni, civic, and charitable events and are committed to displaying a positive and collegiate image at all times that reflects the values and traditions of Angelo State University as well as the ASU Cheer Program.
About The Program
The ASU Coed Cheer Team consists of 20-30 cheerleaders. These numbers can fluctuate from year to year given the needs of the program.
Cheerleading scholarships are available for up to no more than $1,000 per year.
The cheer team participates in, but are not limited to the below events:
Prior to school starting:
- New Student & Transfer Student Orientations
- Ram Round-Up
- Blue & Gold Dinner
- Material work week
- Cheer Camp
- Student Move-In
- Rambunctious Week Events
During the fall semester:
- All home football games & Ram Jams
- Assigned football away games
- Assigned home volleyball games & post-season tournaments
- Assigned various elementary pep-rallies
- Homecoming Week events
- Post-season football games
- ASU Christmas Tree Lighting program
- College Prep Clinics
- Assigned home basketball games including Holiday Breaks
During the spring semester:
- Assigned home basketball games
- College Cheerleading Nationals
- Assigned post-season basketball tournaments
- Assigned various home softball & baseball games
- College Prep Clinics
The cheer team will divide into travel teams labeled Blue & Gold teams for away football, home volleyball, and home basketball. Smaller teams may be assigned for events and appearances.
