Treatment of Repeat Coursework
Repeat Course Policy for Financial Aid
Effective July 1, 2011, due to changes in federal regulations, a student may receive federal financial aid (Title IV funds) for a repeated course only once if the course was previously passed (credit has been received).
Example 1
Rosco takes BIO 1301 in the fall 2011 semester. He receives a C grade and 3 credits for the course. He decides to retake the course in the spring 2012 semester in order to improve his grade and GPA. However, for his repeat class he receives an F grade and no credits. In the fall 2012, he decides to retake the course for a third time. The chart below displays his financial aid eligibility.

Example 2
Bella takes ENG 2304 in the fall 2011 semester. She receives an F grade and no 3 credits for the course. She decides to retake the course in the winter 2012 semester. For her repeat class she receives another F and no credits. In the fall 2012, she decides to retake the course for a third time. She receives a D grade and three credits for the course. Bella can repeat ENG 2304 and receive financial aid for the previously passed course.

Important
The Financial Aid office does not determine if a student may repeat a class, only whether a student may be eligible for financial aid for a repeat class. For more information on your academic program’s policy regarding repeat coursework, contact your academic adviser addition, ever repeated course affects Satisfactory Academic Progress calculations; all repeated courses are counted as attempted credits.
