  Go Mic by Samson is a portable USB microphone for recording class lectures.

  Livescibe 4GB Echo SmartPen allows you to record up to 400 hours of audio or write thousands of pages of notes and store them. Play back information by tapping pen on a notepad. Notes can also be downloaded onto a computer.

  Roger Pen is a discreet, wireless microphone that delivers speech-in-noise and over distance. The Roger Pen features adaptive wireless transmission, fully automated settings, wide-band audio Bluetooth for cell phone use, TV connectivity and an audio input for listening to multimedia.

  Ruby Handheld Video Magnifier by Freedom Scientific is a hand-held video magnifier that lets you magnify printed text and objects at 2-14 times the object’s actual size. 

  Digital Recorders allows you to record lectures. This recorder has a maximum recording time of 1,073 hours and allows you to easily transfer files to your PC or Mac.

  Victor Reader Vibe by Humanware is a digital talking book player. It is designed to play highly structured books, such as reference works, textbooks and leisure reading materials, which are formatted in the DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System) format.

  Snap & Read is a program and browser extension that reads accessible and inaccessible text out loud. It can also be used as a translator.

  Accessible-Format Textbooks

  Textbooks may be provided to students with a qualified disability in CD or E-Text format. Follow these steps to obtain accessible-format textbooks:

  1. Once you register for courses, get a list of your textbooks with the title, author, publisher, edition and ISBN Number for each book from the ASU Bookstore, either online or in the store. Textbook information can be obtained from professors or online in RamPort.
  2. Notify the Office of Student Affairs to request assistance in identifying books in an audio format. Some services used are Learning Ally, Bookshare and Access Text Network. Students may choose to apply for these memberships on their own, or, in some cases, membership may be provided through the Office of Student Affairs.
  3. The ASU Bookstore can provide books in an alternate format on some occasions.  Feel free to contact the store directly at 325-942-2335 regarding alternate formats for textbooks.
