Photo Exhibit, Lecture Highlight Indians of Bolivia

A lecture and reception on the Angelo State University campus Monday, Jan. 29, will highlight the formal opening of an exhibit of stunning photographs taken in Bolivia by University of Houston anthropologist Dr. Jerome Crowder.

The exhibit, "'Suenos Urbanos' (Urban Dreams): The Search for a Better Life in Bolivia," is on display through Feb. 16 in the Gallery on the first floor of the Houston Harte University Center. While doing research in the Bolivian Altiplano (high plain) region, Crowder took the dramatic photos of the Indians native to that area of South America.

Crowder will speak on his experiences in Bolivia during a public lecture on "Anthropology and Indians in Bolivia's Altiplano: the Search for a Better Life." His presentation is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday in Room 221 of the ASU Academic Building. The lecture is open free to the public.

Crowder will also be present for an opening reception 5-7 p.m. Monday in the University Center Gallery. The reception is sponsored by the University Center Program Council Arts Committee. The reception is also open to the public.
