Angelettes Squad Named for Spring Semester

Thirteen students have been selected as members of the Angelettes, Angelo State University's dance and drill team, for the 2001 spring semester.

Angelettes Director Margie Potter announced the team members as: Lacey Allen of Houston; Crystal Brown of League City; Tiffani Coplen of Sweetwater; Ronda Green of Irving, Dixie Locke and Andrea Williams, both of Brownwood; Janice Miller of Fort Worth; Erin Schroeder of Austin; and Denisse Baquero, Michele Dubree, Shyra Hernandez, Lemire Mapel and Merrit Morton, all of San Angelo,

The Angelettes have been goodwill ambassadors and an ASU tradition for more than 40 years. The squad performs at all home football games in conjunction with the ASU Ram Marching Band, at numerous basketball games and at various other campus and community functions throughout the year. Each member of the Angelettes receives a scholarship as well as one hour of class credit for participating on the squad.

Allen is a sophomore business/accounting major and the daughter of Tex and Sharon Allen, 15722 Windy Glen Drive, Houston. Brown is the daughter of Sharon and Chris Brown, 793 Davis Road, League City, and a junior journalism/mass communication major. Coplen is a psychology sophomore and daughter of Joe and Debra Coplen, 911 Brookside, Sweetwater. Green is a sophomore business/finance major and the daughter of Charles and Bettie Allen, 2724 Alan-a-Dale, Irving.

Locke, a sociology freshman, is the daughter of Jill Locke, 4409 Westridge, Brownwood. Williams, the daughter of Pat and Randy Williams, 4602 Delwood, Brownwood, is a junior interdisciplinary studies major. Miller, a sociology sophomore, is the daughter of Veronica Miller, 1000 Eagle Ridge Drive, Fort Worth. Schroeder is a psychology freshman and daughter of Kihm and Tricia Schroeder, 5217 Keene Love, Austin.

Baquero is the daughter of Myrna Baquero, 6021 Equestrian Blvd., San Angelo, and a sophomore communications major. Dubree, a senior biochemistry major, is the daughter of Mayumi Dubree, P.O. Box 61303, San Angelo. Hernandez, an undeclared freshman, is the daughter of DeeDee Hernandez of 213 Edgewood, San Angelo. Mapel is the daughter of Ron and Lecia Mapel, 5802 Pecan Valley, San Angelo, and a sophomore business major. Morton is an elementary education sophomore and the daughter of Jill and Brad Hixon, 3614 Honeysuckle, San Angelo.

Auditions for the Fall 2001 Team will be held in the ASU Dance Studio April 7-8. Details are available by calling the ASU Student Life Office at 942-2191.
