Regents to Consider 2001-02 ASU Budget of $58 Million

Regents of the Texas State University System (TSUS) will consider adopting a $58.5 million budget for Angelo State University during the board's regular meeting Thursday and Friday, Aug. 30-31, in Alpine.

The board will meet at 8 a.m. Thursday and at 9 a.m. Friday in the Conference Room of the University Center on the campus of Sul Ross State University.

Board members will consider adopting budgets for all TSUS institutions for the 2001-02 fiscal year that begins Saturday, Sept. 1. The proposed ASU budget of $58,543,400 is up 7.4 percent from the $54,164,749 budget approved a year ago.

In other business, the board will consider: 1) expanding the architectural contract with Darrow-McSpedden-Sellars of San Angelo for planning the final two phases of renovation for the West Texas Training Center; 2) taking bids for network connectivity and electrical upgrades in the Men's High Rise Residence Hall; 3) increasing the contracted costs of fire alarm, electrical and energy management upgrades in the Administration and Carr Education/Fine Arts Buildings; 4) increasing the designated tuition fee by $2, effective with the 2002 spring semester; 5) leasing three automobiles on an annual basis for the women's athletic director/volleyball program, men's basketball program and women's basketball program with lease fees paid from the Athletic Enrichment Fund; and 6) approving routine personnel changes for retirements, resignations, new hires and continuing appointments.

The TSUS board serves as the governing body for ASU and the other eight institutions making up the system. The other institutions are Lamar University, Lamar Institute of Technology, Lamar State College-Orange, Lamar State College-Port Arthur, Sam Houston State University, Southwest Texas State University, Sul Ross State University and Sul Ross State University-Rio Grande College.
