ASU Honors Students Present Research at Regional Conference

Four student members of Angelo State University’s Honors Program presented their research projects at the annual Great Plains Honors Council Conference April 2-3 at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Senior Yolanda Elias, a double major in mathematics and English, gave an oral presentation on her research project “The Effect of Color Space on Wavelet Image Compression.” Senior biology major Shaheena Anene presented a paper focused on “The Effects of Androstadienone on Human Behavior.”

Senior kinesiology major Elizabeth Black and sophomore physics major Blake McCracken both made research poster presentations. Black’s poster illustrated her project “Effects of Cognitive Task on Postural Stability,” while McCracken’s poster exhibited his research into “Characterization of Resonant Cavities in Terahertz Parallel Plate Waveguides.”

Senior international business major Erica Adkins, sophomore chemistry major T.J. Cole, freshman mass media major Chelsea Atkinson and freshman kinesiology major Whitney Willis also represented the ASU Honors Program at the conference.

The Great Plains Honors Council serves collegiate honors programs in Texas, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma. Coordinating its activities with the National Collegiate Honors Council, the Great Plains organization promotes the flow of information, ideas, fellowship and professional encouragement throughout its member programs.
