Host Families Needed for ASU Visiting Korean Students

Angelo State University’s Center for International Studies is looking for local families to host a group of students from South Korea who will be attending ASU for a month during the spring 2011 semester.

The group of 28 students will arrive in San Angelo on Jan. 16 and will depart on Feb. 11. While at ASU, the students will undergo intensive English training at ASU’s English Language Learners’ Institute and participate in various cultural activities, including a two-day trip to San Antonio. Twenty of the students have requested to live with local host families during their stay.

Families may host either one or two students. Those hosting one student will need to provide a private bedroom and bathroom. Two students of the same gender can share a bedroom and bath, as long as separate beds are provided. Families hosting a male and a female student will need to provide separate private bedrooms and bathrooms.

Other required provisions include a desk with appropriate lighting, a closet and drawer space, warm blankets, two meals per day, daily transportation to and from ASU, and opportunities for sightseeing and cultural activities.

Host families will be paid a $650 stipend per student.

For more information and/or to inquire about becoming a host family, call the ASU Center for International Studies at 942-2083.
