French Artist to be Honored for Donation to ASU

French artist Francoise Valenti has donated an original oil painting, “Le Jardin Provencal,” to Angelo State University for display in the Tippett House, the residence of ASU President Joseph C. Rallo and first lady Barbara Barnhart Rallo.

Valenti, who is best known for her French landscapes and streetscapes, will be honored Tuesday at the Tippett House with a private reception with ASU donors. She is in Texas for a month to paint and to visit with her numerous art patrons in the state. Her artwork sells in the thousands of dollars and she has numerous clients throughout the United States.

Barbara Rallo, a water-colorist who has visited Valenti’s studio in the French village of Roussillon, said, “She is an artist of substance and a pure delight to meet.”

In addition to her oil paintings in the style of the impressionists, Valenti also does sculptures. Samples of her work can be seen at her website at

A public showing of the paintings of Valenti, Rallo and Myriam Bouscarat, also of France, is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at Bentwood Country Club. The paintings in the show will follow the themes of “A French Artist in Texas” with Valenti’s original oils inspired by Texas and France, “A Texas Artist in France” with Rallo’s watercolors inspired by France and “Encoeur” with Bouscarat’s watercolors inspired by Provence in the south of France.

Cost of the show and brunch is $15. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 325-949-4300 or emailing
