The spring commencement speaker will be U.S. Congressman Randy Neugebauer of Lubbock. The congressman’s address will continue the university’s practice of inviting elected representatives from home districts of ASU students. Approximately 2,000 students from Neugebauer’s district attend ASU.

The commencement exercises will conclude two days of graduation-related events on the ASU campus. At 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 14, ASU’s Air Force ROTC Detachment 847 will conduct its spring Commissioning Ceremony for four graduating cadets in the C.J. Davidson Conference Center inside the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive. Each cadet will receive an appointment as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force.

Also on Friday, the Department of Nursing will conduct its annual Pinning Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. in the Junell Center/Stephens Arena. Pinning ceremonies became a U.S. tradition in the early 1800s to mark students’ completion of nursing education and entry into the profession.
