Angelo State SOAR Schedule Set for 2010
The Angelo State University Office of Admissions has announced the 2010 schedule for its Student Orientation and Registration (SOAR) program, a series of day-long sessions for first-time incoming freshmen and transfer students.
SOAR sessions are planned for June 12, June 19, July 10, July 24 and July 31. During each session, students will become familiar with campus facilities, services and activities as they receive academic advising and explanation of academic requirements and expectations. They will also have the chance to speak with university administrators, faculty, upperclassmen and other incoming students as well as get answers to questions specific to their individual situations. By the end of each session, participating students will also be fully registered for their first fall semester.
Parents of the incoming students are also invited to attend. Special activities will familiarize parents with the university and its objectives, programs and facilities. The focus of SOAR is academic program information, academic advising and class registration. Other topics of interest will include residence hall life, financial aid, student activities and organizations. Parents will also meet with members of the university staff who will discuss college life at ASU, class schedules, testing, grading and standardized test results.
More specific schedules of daily SOAR activities are mailed to students each year in early spring. Around 1,300 students along with about 2,500 parents and guests attend SOAR sessions annually.
