Community Flute Choir to Meet at ASU
The Concho Valley Community Flute Choir (CVCFC) will begin its second season with a meeting from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29, in the Band Hall, Room 134 of the Carr Education-Fine Arts Building, on the Angelo State University campus.
The CVCFC is open to all flutists in San Angelo and the surrounding communities and is directed by Dr. Constance Kelley, ASU flute professor and assistant director of bands. The group strives to promote flute playing and the performance of its music.
“The CVCFC is a way to foster the association of professional and amateur flutists, and flute enthusiasts,” Kelley said.
High school flutists are invited to participate with the recommendation of their teachers. Rehearsals are held the second and fourth Sundays of each month, and the repertoire ranges from serious recital selections to light-hearted seasonal arrangements.
The ensemble performs for community events in a variety of venues and may appear in recitals. Those interested should bring their flutes and calendars to the Aug. 29 rehearsal.
