ASU Planetarium Kicks Off Fall Season with ‘The Planets’

The planets of the Earth’s solar system will be the focus of a new star program, “The Planets,” beginning Thursday, Aug. 27, in the Angelo State University Planetarium.

Show times will be at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Aug. 27 to Nov. 19, with special Saturday showings at 2 p.m. on Sept. 26 and Oct. 31. The Planetarium is located in the ASU Vincent Nursing-Physical Science Building, 2333 Vanderventer St.

“The Planets” will take audiences on a space voyage through our solar system and reveal what is currently known about each of the planets. The program will allow the audience to explore the many wonders of our neighboring planets, including the steep edges of the Valles Marineris and the Grand Canyon of Mars, as well as simulate flying through the rings of Saturn and standing on the surface of Pluto, where the sun is just a dot of light in the sky.

“The Planets” is open to the public with admission prices of $3 for adults and $2 for children, students and senior citizens. ASU students, faculty and staff are admitted free.

For more information on “The Planets,” call the ASU Planetarium at 942-2136.
