ASU to Host Physical Therapy Symposium

Angelo State University will host a Physical Therapy Symposium Saturday, April 25, in the ASU Science III Building, 2031 S. Johnson St.

Activities will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. in Room 213 of Science III and the program will feature presentations by three physical therapy professionals. A light breakfast and lunch will also be provided.

At 9 a.m., Keri Mitchell, a physical therapist, certified wound specialist and clinical account manager for Kinetic Concepts Inc. (KCI), will present “Integumentary System Review and Wound Care.” Her talk will also include an overview of the use of vacuum assisted closure (Wound VAC) to treat open wounds.

Following a break for lunch, Dr. Carolyn Mason of the ASU physical therapy faculty will discuss and demonstrate “Neuro-Developmental Treatment” at 1:15 p.m. Mason’s presentation will be followed at 3 p.m. by Mark Pape, ASU assistant clinical professor. He will discuss “Anatomy of the Knee: A Laboratory Review.”

The symposium will close with evaluations and wrap-up at 4:30 p.m. By attending, physical therapists can earn .6 continuing education units (CEUs).

Cost to pre-register for the symposium is $65 per person until April 23. After April 23, registration cost will be $75. Cost for students is $10.
