Chancellor’s Council Teaching, Research Awards to be Announced

The inaugural Angelo State University recipients of the Texas Tech University System Chancellor’s Council Distinguished Teaching Award and Distinguished Research Award will be announced during a general faculty meeting sponsored by the ASU Faculty Senate Wednesday, April 8.

The recipients will be revealed during the meeting at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, in Room 100 of the Math-Computer Science Building. The two awards carry with them a plaque and a $10,000 honorarium made possible by the TTUS Chancellor’s Council.

In addition to the recipient of the Chancellor’s Council Distinguished Teaching Award, two finalists for the award will also be recognized at the meeting. Each finalist will receive a $1,300 honorarium.

The Chancellor’s Council awards are presented annually at each of the three institutions that make up the Texas Tech University System – Angelo State, Texas Tech and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center – to recognize and encourage outstanding teaching and research by faculty members.

The Chancellor’s Council awards were initiated in 2001 to recognize outstanding teaching and research by faculty in the Texas Tech University System. This year marks the first year the awards will be presented to the faculty of ASU. The Chancellor’s Council raises funds to provide student scholarships, to support faculty recruitment and activities, and to sustain excellence in academic and other programs in the Texas Tech System.
