ASU Business Grad Named Wells Fargo Business Lecturer

Angelo State University 1967 graduate M. Dale Dodson has been selected as the Wells Fargo Distinguished Lecturer in Business for 2006.

Dodson is a former partner in the Dallas office of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co., the predecessor to KPMG. A certified public accountant, he earned an executive master of business administration from Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif.

In 1981, Gov. Bill Clements appointed Dodson to serve as chairman of the Capitol Formation Committee of the governor’s Task Force on Small Business.

Dodson moved into the real estate business in 1982, when he founded Dalcor Companies, a real estate acquisition and service company. The company has owned and operated more than 20,000 apartment units in North Texas, Houston, Austin and Phoenix.

Dodson and his wife, Sherry, live in Plano.

At ASU, Dodson played football for one season. He was a founding officer of the national business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi. In 2000, he was named a Distinguished Alumnus, and he serves on the College of Business’ advisory board.

Dodson will present “SUCCESS: How is it Achieved and How is it Maintained?” at the Wells Fargo Distinguished Lectureship in Business at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 30, in the C.J. Davidson Conference Center.

The Wells Fargo Distinguished Lectureship in Business was established in 1995 to help grow the relationship between the San Angelo business community and ASU. Past speakers have included Verizon vice president Michael H. Millegan, Time Warner Cable COO Landel Hobbs, Houston Astros owner Drayton McLane, Hirschfeld Steel CEO David Hirschfeld, and Town & Country Food Stores, Inc. CEO Steve Stephens.

The Lectureship’s Coordinating Committee is comprised of College of Business Dean Michael Butler; Wells Fargo Bank of San Angelo President Jim Raymond; head of ASU Department of Management and Marketing Tom Badgett; head of ASU Department of Accounting, Economics and Finance Thomas Bankston; ASU economics professor S. Murat Kara; ASU Office of Communications and Marketing Director Preston Lewis; management professor Sharynn Tomlin; and management professor J. Thomas Yokum, Jr.
