Your Future in Social Work

Through social work, you have an incredible opportunity to improve lives.

With the knowledge and professional skills you gain in the Angelo State Social Work Program, you can assist people like veterans who are overcoming injuries to mind and body, or those dealing with aging issues and losing independence. You can also provide services to patients in healthcare settings, helping them to cope and plan for illnesses by proving counseling or social support.

Social work practitioners advocate for those who have experienced various social problems that cut across cultural groups. Examples include:

  • Poverty
  • Crime and victimization
  • Oppression
  • Discrimination
  • Mental illness
  • Substance abuse
  • Chronic physical illness
  • Physical, emotional or sexual abuse
  • Neglect
