Degrees in Health Science Professions

ASU’s health science professions degrees are designed to help you find your interests within the health care industry. Upon graduation, you will be prepared to enter a range of health science professions or you may choose advanced graduate study in health care.

Degree Options 

Depending on your career aspirations, you can choose one of three tracks to complete your bachelor’s degree or a masters degree:

  • The Physical Therapy and Allied Health Professions track provides students with the necessary prerequisites to apply for graduate school in physical therapy, athletic training or occupational therapy. Other required courses include:
    • General Chemistry I & II
    • General Physics I & II
    • Developmental Psychology
    • Technical Writing
    • 15 credit hours of advanced electives (to tailor your degree to meet your educational goals)
  • The Public Health track is designed for students wanting to pursue graduate education in public health or begin health care careers. Potential careers include medical and health service management, health education, health care administration, community health and pharmaceutical sales. Other required courses include:
    • Introduction to Sociology
    • Developmental Psychology
    • Technical Writing
    • Community Development
    • Demography and Community Planning
    • Public Health
    • Community Assessment
    • Global Health
  • The Healthcare Administration track allows Health Science Professions majors to pursue employment in an administrative capacity in healthcare and to meet the prerequisites needed if they wish to pursue a Masters in Business Administration or a Masters in Health Administration. Other required courses include:
    • Healthcare Administration History, Culture and Language 
    • Health Information Systems
    • Quality Control Management in Healthcare
    • Healthcare Human Resources and Employment Law
    • Healthcare Strategic Management
    • Disaster and Emergency Preparedness Management
    • Healthcare Reimbursement 
  • Finally, we offer a B.S.H.S.P. – Physical Therapy and Allied Health Specialization and Master of Athletic Training Joint Degree Program.


Students will take courses that span multiple health science disciplines and cover: 

  • Ethics
  • Policy
  • Epidemiology
  • Organization and leadership
  • Research and evidence-based practice
  • Nutrition and supplementation

The degree is designed to enhance multidisciplinary health care education to focus on patient-centered care. Students will develop these necessary skills for professional practice:

  • Communication
  • Decision making
  • Social and analytical thinking
