Degree Programs for Undergraduate Biology Majors

Biology may be described simply as the study of life, but the varied courses you will take at ASU focus on everything from botany and zoology to medical genetics and oceanography.

Faculty in the Biology Department are not only passionate about what they study and research, they also take the time to get to know students. Courses usually consist of lectures and labs. All upper division courses are taught by Ph.D.-level faculty and laboratory classes are taught by professors – not teaching assistants.

Undergraduate students typically choose one of the two degree plan options below. Those interested in becoming health professionals are encouraged to read our online information and contact an advisor.

Students pursuing this degree plan are usually interested in seeking general employment following graduation or in applying to medical school (including optometry, podiatry, dentistry or graduate school).

Biology with Secondary-Level Teacher Certification Life Science

Students planning to teach life science at the secondary level should choose this degree option.
