This certificate is an excellent addition to the résumé of anyone interested in a career related to homeland security, cybersecurity, information technology, emergency management or law enforcement - or in areas of federal, state or local government and the private sector.
Program Highlights
This challenging certificate program is taught 100 percent online and in eight-week terms, allowing working professionals to add an area of specialization, or to update their skill sets to better compete in today’s hottest job markets.
Faculty includes nationally recognized experts in border and homeland security, terrorism and human rights, cybersecurity, emergency management, and modern law enforcement techniques and training.
Course materials are designed to increase students’ knowledge of national and international security issues in the areas of cybersecurity and vulnerability, with a holistic approach to real-world issues.
Upon completion of the certificate, students can choose to pursue a Master of Science in homeland security from Angelo State and use their certificate credits as electives for their degree.
Admission Requirements
- All college and university transcripts
- Essay of no more than 750 words discussing an important issue of homeland security
Prerequisites
- Hold a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 2.75 or better, including all grades on repeated courses, or hold a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 3.0 or better in the last 60 hours of undergraduate work.
Note: Required GPA may be waived on a case-by-case basis by the department chair.
