Agriculture Master’s Degree (M.Ag.)
The Master of Agriculture is a non-thesis degree designed for persons intending to pursue a career in industry, business or governmental services, or to teach at the junior college level.
The specialized curricula are designed to give the student a broad knowledge of the application of scientific principles to the production, processing and marketing of agriculture products or services.
This degree requires a minimum of 36 credit hours of graduate work, including 27-36 credit hours in Agriculture Department courses (with at least 3 hours in each of the following areas: Animal Science, Food Science, Range and Wildlife Management, Ag Leadership and Agriculture Economics) and 0-9 semester credit hours in supporting electives.

Program Highlights
Our program teaches students graduate-level knowledge, addressing a variety of agriculture topics, including animal science, food science, range and wildlife science, ag leadership and agriculture economics, thereby creating graduates with an advanced level of education encompassing the broad themes of today’s agriculture industry.
We incorporate experiential learning through an internship or shadowing environment, providing advanced training focused on developing innovative and technical abilities within the ag industry.

[GPA x 100] + Quantitative + Verbal + Converted Analytical ≥ 740.
GRE Analytical Writing Conversion Scale
The GRE Analytical Writing sub test is scored on a scale of 1-6. This score is converted to the metric of the other sub tests as follows:
1.0-2.0 = 130
2.5 = 135
3.0 = 140
3.5 = 145
4.0 = 150
4.5 = 155
5.0 = 160
5.5 = 165
6.0 = 170
Admission Requirements
- All college and university transcripts (Upload unofficial transcripts for application evaluation purposes to the College of Graduate Studies and Research at graduate.studies@angelo.edu. With the exception of Angelo State University transcripts)
- M.Ag. Essay Topic: (Attach to Apply Texas application or email to graduate.studies@angelo.edu)
- In your opinion, what is the number one challenge facing the agriculture industry today and why? Also, what are your background and career goals related to agriculture?
- GRE scores (If an applicant has at least a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA or 3.0 last 60 hours GPA, then the GRE requirement is waived)
- Two Academic Letters of Reference from former Collegiate Instructors (to be sent directly to Department of Agriculture)
- Current Curriculum Vitae or Resume (to be sent directly to Department of Agriculture)
Prerequisites
- Hold a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 2.5 or better, including all grades on repeated courses – or hold a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 3.0 or better in the last 60 hours of undergraduate work
- Completion of a minimum of 24 credit hours of undergraduate course work in animal science, agriculture, range management, wildlife management or agronomy, including 12 credit hours of advanced course work
