Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Event Going Virtual
November 24, 2020
Angelo State University will conduct its annual Christmas Tree Lighting event online this year with a special virtual ceremony beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
In advance of the ceremony, a new 23-foot-tall ASU Christmas tree has been placed in the Memorial Oak Grove in front of the Mayer Administration Building at 2601 W. Ave. N. Once lit on Dec. 1, it will remain on display throughout the holiday season.
Activities for this year’s virtual lighting ceremony will include:
- A Holiday Pops Concert by members of the ASU Symphony Orchestra
- Holiday greetings from ASU administrators and members of campus student organizations
- The lighting of the ASU Christmas tree
The link to the virtual ceremony will be available on the day of the event at angelo.edu/angelochristmas.
The Christmas Tree Lighting is also taking place on the same day as ASU’s participation in the ninth annual “Giving Tuesday” global day of giving campaign. Throughout the day on Dec. 1, ASU will be accepting online donations that will go toward programs, scholarships and other initiatives that benefit ASU students.
This year’s goal is to reach at least 300 donations to have a significant and lasting impact on current and future ASU students. Online donations can be made to ASU on Dec. 1 at angelo.edu/givingtuesday.
